Dr Yolanda Augustin

Dr Yolanda Augustin is a Malaysian oncologist with a special interest in global oncology. She completed her undergraduate, medical, and palliative care training at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine, and subsequently trained in clinical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, with sub-speciality training in sarcoma. She currently co-leads the Global Oncology Programme at City–St George’s, University of London, focusing on three main areas: drug repurposing for cancer, development of affordable point-of-care HPV DNA diagnostics for cervical cancer screening, and the development of accessible biologics for cancer care. Her team also runs community advocacy initiatives in Sarawak, working with community health champions and local stakeholders to remove barriers to equitable healthcare access and effective cancer service delivery. Dr Augustin collaborates closely with the Malaysian Ministry of Health and Ministry of Higher Education through the International Affordable Diagnostics and Therapeutics Alliance (IA-DATA)—a partnership headquartered in Malaysia. This initiative aims to increase access to affordable diagnostics and therapeutics for cancer, infectious diseases, and rare diseases across ASEAN and the Global South. IA-DATA brings together interdisciplinary experts from government, academia, industry, civil society, and global health organizations to advance innovations in point-of-care testing, drug repurposing, and plant molecular farming to lower the cost of monoclonal antibodies and immunotherapies.

Prof Yuri Ito

Yuri Ito is a Professor in the Department of Medical Statistics at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Japan. She holds MSc and PhD degrees in Health Science from Osaka University. Prior to her current position, she served as a senior researcher in cancer control at the Osaka International Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on descriptive cancer epidemiology, using population-based cancer registry data and official statistics to inform policy and evaluate cancer control measures. She currently leads the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare grant research group addressing socioeconomic inequalities across the cancer control continuum. Her recent work emphasizes evidence-based approaches to promote equity in cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. She is also dedicated to communicating cancer statistics effectively to patients and the public to enhance awareness and understanding of cancer burden and control in Japan.

Ashleigh is a mixed-methods health services researcher at The University of Sydney and fellow in Survivorship (Financial Toxicity) with the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA). Her areas of interest include investigating financial burden and supportive care needs of people affected by cancer through a policy lens. A research affiliate at comprehensive cancer centre Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, much of her previous experience has involved exploring the survivorship needs of head and neck cancer survivors and their caregivers. She has recently completed a Master of Health Policy, and is an active member of various COSA Working Groups and MASCC Study Groups.

Dr Mohamad Adam Bujang

Dr. Mohamad Adam Bujang is a Research Officer at the Clinical Research Centre, Sarawak General Hospital. He is recognized by Stanford University among the top 2% of scientists worldwide for both single-year and career-long achievement. His expertise includes research methodology, advanced statistical analysis, and scale development. He has reviewed hundreds of manuscripts across over 50 Web of Science–indexed journals. He also serves as Guest Editor for Biomedicines (JIF 3.9) and Statistical Editor for the Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine (JIF 2.0). In 2024, he was listed among the Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) by the Academy of Science Malaysia.

Assoc Prof Dr Bibiana

Associate Professor Dr Bibiana is the Head of Learning and Teaching Unit in Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Office and an Associate Professor in School of Business at Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus. She has a wide-ranging and interdisciplinary research focus, with expertise in innovation, sustainability, and organizational dynamics. Her research interests include behavioural studies, educational technology, tourism, green technology, sustainability, leadership, and the broader areas of management and marketing. She has received multiple awards for her teaching, research, and professional service as an academic and has secured several research grants. Dr Bibiana has published in leading, academic, indexed journals on the SCOPUS and ABDC lists. She is a strong advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has been invited as a keynote speaker at various international conferences. In addition, she regularly delivers lectures, sharing her expertise and insights on topics related to marketing, sustainability, innovation, and organizational dynamics.

Dr Yin Ting Cheung

Dr. Yin Ting Cheung is an Associate Professor and Associate Director (Research) of the School of Pharmacy, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her training in pharmacoepidemiology and cancer survivorship from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, USA). Yin Ting’s research adopts a combination of pharmaco-epidemiological and biopsychosocial approaches to characterize cancer-related late effects using real-world population-based data and patient-reported outcomes. She is a steering committee member on the International Pediatric Oncology Guidelines in supportive care (iPOG) Network. She hopes that her collaborative research with students, clinicians and scientists can help to improve health outcomes in survivors of cancer.

Lai Wei Hong

Lai Wei Hong is a Senior Scientist and Quality Assurance Manager based at the Clinical Research Centre, Sarawak General Hospital (CRC SGH). He plays a key role in regulatory and quality initiatives, including serving as a core team member in achieving the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) Phase 1 Unit accreditation and Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) accreditation for CRC SGH. He also serves as a grant reviewer for federal and state funding agencies. Beyond quality management, he is actively engaged in multi-centre collaborations with tertiary hospitals, academic institutions, and national research bodies. His research interests and contributions span precision oncology, cancer epidemiology, and microbiota research, with a strong commitment to advancing evidence-based practice through interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration.

Dr Melissa Lim Siaw Han

Melissa is a Pharmacist with a PhD in Medical Science from Okayama University, Japan. Her interests include access to cancer care, and women's cancers, theranostics and pharmacogenetics. She is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak since July 2022 and was previously a clinical pharmacist for 13 years. She is a former UICC Young Leader (2021/2022) and recipient of the Prof. Yoo Hang Kim Young Women Scientist Award (2024). A member of MASCC, ESMO, and MPS, Melissa has led multiple national and industry research projects. She co-founded the Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness (SCAN) Kuching, supports local NGOs, and has led breast cancer outreach across rural Sarawak since 2012, impacting over 2500 women in the region.

Dr Ooi Chor Yau is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), and a Family Medicine Specialist. He holds an MD from UNIMAS, a Master of Family Medicine from the University of Malaya, and a PhD in Implementation Science. His work focuses on strengthening cancer prevention and early detection in primary care through evidence-based screening, implementation research, and community engagement. Dr Ooi is actively involved in clinical practice, teaching, and research, with publications on screening uptake and digital health interventions, and serves on multiple academic and professional committees.

Ms. Shirley Tan is a research pharmacist at the Clinical Research Centre, Sarawak General Hospital, since 2014. She graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2012. She is involved in translational investigator-initiated research (IIR), with work focusing on pharmacogenomics, point-of-care testing, and biomarker research. She also participated in industry-sponsored clinical trials across therapeutic areas, including oncology and hematology. Her interests include optimizing drug response and supporting improved clinical outcomes through tailored therapeutic approaches, individualized patient care, and clinical epidemiology.

Dr Tiara Bunga Mayang Permata

Dr. Mayang Permata is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at the dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital and a lecturer/teaching staff of Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her clinical subspecialty expertise is in pediatric, breast, thoracic, and lympho-musculoskeletal cancers. Her research focus also includes integrating translational radiobiology, clinical innovation, palliative care, and cancer control, especially relevant to radiotherapy access, in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). She obtained her PhD degree from the Heavy Ion Therapy Leading Programme, Gunma University, Japan, researching on radiation effects to PD-L1 expression in cancer cells. She has been active in various national and international organizations, such as Indonesian Radiation Oncology Society (IROS), Federation of Asian organizations for Radiation Oncology (FARO), and American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO). She currently serves as Secretary General of the Indonesian Radiation Oncology Society (IROS), Member of the International Affairs Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and Coordinator of the Career Development Center and Alumni Relations at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia.

Dr. Ting Chuo Yew (Samuel) is the Senior Principal Assistant Director at the Sarawak State Health Department and Chairperson of the Sarawak Pharmaceutical Services Division R&D Committee. Holding a PhD in Community Health and a Master of Medical Science in Public Health, his research expertise includes psycho-oncology, financial toxicity, and health behaviors. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, including Supportive Care in Cancer, and serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE. He was recently awarded the "Distinguished Pharmacy R&D Exemplar Award" by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
